January is often like a relative who shows up, overstays their welcome, and then poof — disappears without warning.
One minute you’re clinking glasses at New Year’s, the next you’re staring at February’s calendar, wondering, STOP THE CLOCK!
And February, with its 28 days, feels like it’s in cahoots with January to fast-forward life. The ultimate tag-team duo, right? So, what’s your game plan for the rest of the year?
February: Starting with a Bang
This month kicked off on a high note — Thaipusam vibes were electric! Add Federal Territory Day into the mix, and we’ve got a long weekend in some states bursting with colour, crowds, and smiles. Honestly, it was hard to find anyone not grinning ear to ear.
But before the incense smoke cleared, the Chinese New Year buzz – including the Gongxi Ni, Gongxi Ni music streams — had somewhat taken over. Cue the travel chaos: flights booked last minute, hotels packed, restaurants scrambling for reunion dinner reservations.
Everyone’s buzzing like bees, and yes, even your favourite bowl of curry noodles might be plotting a price hike.
March Madness (But the Festive Kind)
Blink again, and it’s March. I’m letting March take the wheel — captain of my ship. After CNY, maybe we’ll catch our breath… but let’s be real, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is just around the corner.
This year, it’s set for Saturday, March 21, 2026. Translation: a four-day break with balik kampung traffic jams, family reunions, and festive vibes that make the chaos worth it.
Pro tip: book your ETS, bus or air tickets early, or risk being stuck in the world’s longest queue.
April: Time to Fool Yourself
April kicks off with April Fool’s Day, and I’m plotting some self-pranks. Why not?
• Set my alarm an hour early and convince myself it’s time to wake up.
• Put my phone on silent and pretend it’s broken.
• Wear socks on my hands, call it “fashion-forward,” and post it online with a trending track.
• Cook up cereal with ketchup for breakfast and eat it with a poker face.
At 65, I’m skipping the “I can fly” stunt off the couch — but hey, it’s all about embracing the silly. Fool yourself, laugh at yourself, and enjoy the ridiculous.
Life’s First Quarter: Nailed It
So far, we’ve had Thaipusam. And soon — CNY, Hari Raya, and April Fool’s Day lined up. That’s a pretty solid first quarter of 2026. These moments remind us that life is full of surprises — sometimes chaotic, sometimes hilarious.
As the saying goes, the best things in life are unexpected. And laughter? Always the universal medicine.
