Batang Kali Landslide: 17 still missing, 16 dead and camping site operated without license

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 – As search and rescue mission at the Father’s Organic Farm landslide site continued, a total of 17 people remain unaccounted for as at 3pm today.

The landslide, which took place in the early morning hours of Friday with many still sleeping, has buried the camping site of the organic farm. Rescue and search operations is reported to have begun 30 minutes after the incident.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), a total of 61 people have already been rescued as of 1pm Friday, while 16 people have died.

The Father’s Organic Farm is located close to the road that connects Batang Kali and Genting Highland.

Meanwhile, Minister of Local Government Development, Nga Kor Ming has said that the comping site ha been operating without a license.

The owner has been given approval to run an organic farm only, he said.
