KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed hope that the new MADANI Government Cabinet leadership lineup will work with great commitment and responsibility, thereby ensuring the welfare of the people and the interests of the country remain a priority.
He stressed that the trust placed in them must be carried out as best as possible to make the country’s development and reform agenda a success.
“I would also like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the leaders who were with the MADANI Cabinet previously for their services, contributions and commitment in making the country’s reform and development agenda a success,” he posted on Facebook today.
Earlier, Anwar announced the appointment of new ministers and deputy ministers, as well as several portfolio realignments, to fill the vacancies in the Cabinet and suitability needs.
Among those involved in the reshuffle were the appointment of Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) from Minister of Plantation and Commodities and Hannah Yeoh as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) from Youth and Sports Minister.
The reshuffle also saw six deputy ministers and one new face elevated to full ministerial rank, including former Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir being made Economy Minister and Sungai Petani Member of Parliament Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari being appointed as the new Youth and Sports Minister.
