KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17: The Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Anthony Loke, led a delegation from the party’s Central Executive Committee on a visit to China and met in Beijing with Vice Premier of the State Council, He Lifeng.
Both sides held candid, in-depth, and constructive exchanges on the friendly development of Malaysia–China relations, prospects for economic and trade cooperation, as well as regional and global economic conditions, a press statement issued by DAP’s Central Executive Committee today said.
During the meeting, Anthony Loke noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Malaysia–China ties have continued to develop in a steady and resilient manner, becoming one of the most important and strategically significant partnerships for both countries. At present, Malaysia–China relations are at a high level of development. Building on the solid foundations already in place, both sides should further strengthen mutual trust, expand cooperation, and ensure that this relationship grows more stable, more far-reaching, and more enduring over time.
Anthony Loke highlighted that the strong competitiveness demonstrated by Chinese enterprises in manufacturing, infrastructure, high technology, and new energy has become an important driving force in global economic development. Malaysia welcomes continued investment by Chinese companies, while also placing great emphasis on the sustainability of cooperation models.
He stressed that Chinese investment and operations in Malaysia should, within a spirit of unity and win-win cooperation, place greater emphasis on localisation, deepen collaboration with local enterprises—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises—and promote supply chains that prioritise localisation, technology transfer, and talent development. This approach would not only support the long-term, stable operations of Chinese companies in Malaysia, but also enhance the competitiveness of Malaysian enterprises, creating a virtuous cycle of mutual benefit and coordinated development.
Anthony Loke further emphasised that Malaysia attaches great importance to the long-term stability and continuity of Malaysia–China economic and trade relations, and looks forward to achieving broader benefits for the peoples of both countries through closer industrial collaboration and more diversified forms of cooperation, thereby injecting sustained momentum into regional economic growth.
Both sides agreed that deepening Malaysia–China cooperation is in the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples, and also contributes to regional peace, stability, and shared development. They expressed their commitment to further strengthening exchanges and dialogue, and to promoting Malaysia–China relations to achieve new and even greater progress at a new historical starting point.
