SUBANG JAYA, Feb 11 – If all goes well, Subang Jaya may get its public hospital soon. According to Member Parliament of Subang Jaya Wong Chen an allocation had been made for a public hospital in the upcoming Budget.
Speaking to Weekly Echo during a Chinese New Year gathering organised here by the USJ2 Rukun Tetangga Centre, Wong Chen said the hospital, to be located in USJ 1, had already been approved by the previous government and that expected to take off eventually after a long wait from the people living in Subang Jaya and its surrounding areas.
He was responding to a question on whether the plan to have a public hospital will go ahead soon. His indication was that funds could have already been allocated in the coming Budget for a hospital in USJ1 in Subang Jaya. “This was something already approved during the previous government,” he added.
Meanwhile, welcoming it as very good news, Manuel, who lives in USJ2/4, said a public hospital in Subang Jaya will greatly ease the problems many people faced when seeking medical help in their area.
“Many of us from here either go to either the Klinik Kesihatan in Kelana Jaya or Puchong. Some even go to the Shah Alam hospital,” he said.
Besides the travelling, these clinics are always already filled with people from their own areas, then there is the waiting if the crowd really gets big, he said, adding that not everyone could afford to go to the many private hospitals in Subang Jaya and Sunway areas.
It is especially a boon for the older folks, and public healthcare facilities in Malaysia, which has a significant number of ageing population, must be well distributed to ensure easy access to such facilities.
