Al-Sultan Abdullah, Tunku Azizah visit Pak Lah’s grave at Heroes Mausoleum

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited the grave of the fifth Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Heroes Mausoleum here yesterday.

Their Royal Highnesses spent about 45 minutes at the site starting at 10.30 am, joining the tahlil recitation led by National Mosque Grand Imam Ehsan Mohd Hosni, before scattering flower petals and pouring scented water on the late statesman’s grave.

They were accompanied by Abdullah’s children, Tan Sri Kamaluddin and Nori.

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah later visited the graves of other former national leaders laid to rest at the Heroes Mausoleum, including Tun Hussein Onn, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, Tun Abdul Ghafar Baba and Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman.

Abdullah, who was fondly known as Pak Lah, breathed his last at the National Heart Institute on April 14, at the age of 85.

He served as Prime Minister from Oct 31, 2003, to April 3, 2009, and left a lasting legacy in national development through initiatives such as the Northern Corridor Economic Region, J-QAF programme and the halal industry.
