SHAH ALAM, July 31: The quality of air in parts of Klang Valley and in the country continued to remain poor with some areas recording unhealthy levels of polllution.
In Shah Alam, air pollution remained high, hitting an unhealthy air quality index (AQI) of 109 around 4am today, with particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5) being the main pollutant at a reading of 117, PM10 at 41 based on Plume Lab’s live air quality report.
Subang Jaya’s AQI was at an unhealthy 115 as at 8am, while the AQI in Sungai Petani in Kedah was at 105.
Poor air quality poses high health risks for sensitive individuals while long term exposure is a health risk for the general population.
