Aaryan (2025) is a Tamil conspiracy thriller directed by Praveen K., starring Vishnu Vishal and Shraddha Srinath. At its core, the film asks a chilling question: Can a dead man commit murder?
The story revolves around Azhagar (played by K. Selvaraghavan), a failed writer who hijacks a live television show to announce his “perfect crime.”
He declares that over the next five days, one person will die each day — and each victim will be linked to the next murder. The catch?
He reveals the victim’s identity only an hour before the crime, leaving the police scrambling in confusion.
The film wastes no time in setting up its tension. Journalist and talk-show host Nayana (Shraddha Srinath) is forced to replace a politician guest with rising actor Kailash.
But the interview takes a shocking turn when Azhagar, seated in the audience, ridicules Kailash and shoots him in the leg.
He then calmly announces that someone will die that very night. Moments later, he reveals the victim’s name — Narayanan — before shooting himself. The twist? Narayanan is his own real name.
From that point on, the film spirals into a psychological nightmare. Despite Azhagar’s death, the murders continue exactly as he promised, with ominous warnings appearing on television, billboards, and even mobile phones. The police, the media, and the public are thrown into chaos as the body count rises.
At the centre of the investigation is DCP Nambi (Vishnu Vishal), a man grappling with personal turmoil after a divorce. He must race against time to unravel the mystery: how is a dead man orchestrating these killings?
The suspense lies not only in the murders themselves but in the moral and psychological complexity of the chase.
Why This Film Works
• Minimal distractions: The film avoids unnecessary romance or action subplots, keeping the focus squarely on the mystery.
• A unique hook: The tagline “Can a dead man kill?” is more than a gimmick — it’s a clever device that keeps viewers guessing.
• Psychological depth: Beyond the thrills, the film explores fear, morality, and the unsettling idea of promises kept from beyond the grave.
Final Verdict
Aaryan may not be flawless, but it is undeniably bold. With its stylish execution, relentless suspense, and thought-provoking premise, it delivers a gripping experience for fans of crime thrillers.
If you enjoy stories that blend mystery with psychological intrigue, this is a film worth watching —at least once — for the sheer thrill of seeing how a dead man keeps his word.
