CAIRO, Aug 7 (Bernama-WAFA) — Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, warned on Friday of Israel’s approach to alter realities on the ground in the occupied Palestinian Territory, the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported, citing Egypt Today.
Fahmy strongly criticised Israel’s strategy of using military force to impose a fait accompli and expand its territory.
He emphasised that ongoing attacks on civilians and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, alongside repeated violations against Lebanon and Syria, represent a dangerous continuation of policies that undermine regional stability.
He explained that expanding the use of force and violating the sovereignty of Arab states will not bring Israel security or stability. Instead, he warned, these actions escalate tensions, broaden the scope of confrontation, and jeopardise security across the entire region.
The Secretary-general stressed the imperative of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states, halting attacks on Lebanon and Syria, and ending the occupation of Arab lands, most notably the Palestinian Territory.
He reaffirmed that lasting peace and stability require strict adherence to UN resolutions and international law, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
