KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) — Selayang Hospital held an ‘Honour Walk’ as a final tribute to Nabil Izz Qaisar Mohd Zairee, a Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah student, who gave hope to patients awaiting transplant through organ donation, yesterday.
In a Facebook post, Selayang Hospital said at 3 am, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, family members and hospital staff accompanied his final journey as a symbol of appreciation for his meaningful sacrifice.
According to the post, every organ donation is a ‘Gift of Life’ that can offer a second chance to patients awaiting transplants.
“Selayang Hospital extends its highest appreciation to the late Nabil and his entire family for their sincerity and invaluable sacrifice.
“May this noble act become a lasting deed and inspire society to understand the importance of organ donation,” it said.
Meanwhile, Anaesthesiologist and Critical Care specialist at Selayang Hospital, Dr Haslinda Abd Hashim, confirmed that the organ donation and transplant procedures involving six recipients were carried out early yesterday morning.
She said the donation involved the lungs, heart, two kidneys, liver, and two corneas.
The late Nabil Izz Qaisar’s former teacher at Sekolah Menengah Sains Teluk Intan, Hizandie Shuaib, said he had known the student for five years through classroom teaching and football activities.
In a Facebook post, Hizandie also shared his experience visiting his former student at the hospital and witnessing the Honour Walk held in his memory.
Nabil Izz Qaisar, 19, a Diploma in Islamic Finance student at Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah Commerce Department, was pronounced dead at 3.50 pm on Monday, a day after celebrating his birthday.
