HYDERABAD, July 24 (Bernama) — Two of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s key ministers on Friday held talks with the representatives of protesting youth to discuss their demands.
The Union Ministers, J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, met the youth movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) representatives, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, at the Constitution Club of India near the Jantar Mantar protest site in central Delhi.
“They had three main demands and five suggestions for examination reforms. We have told them that we will meet them again tomorrow afternoon,” Nadda told reporters.
It was reported that thousands camped in New Delhi seeking reforms to the country’s education system over a national medical entrance examination paper leak in May.
Modi, in a video message on Thursday night, promised stricter action against examination paper leaks.
The government is planning to amend the existing public examination laws to provide for harsher jail terms and financial penalties for those involved in leaking papers, according to a report on the Hindustan Times newspaper’s website.
