KUALA LUMPUR, May 29: Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT service, which had been disrupted following Thursday’s train derailment incident, is expected to be operational by next Wednesday (June 3rd).
The minister who visited the site today at the Chan Sow Lin station, where the train had derailed, was briefed on the clearance of the affected train with a special crane, and the subsequent repair works on the affected tracks.
As a precautionary measure, the train operations on the track will be monitored and kept to a low speed for few days before operations resume as usual, Loke said.
For now, the trains coming from Ampang and headed to Sentul Timur will stop at the Chan Sow Lin station and return to Ampang to facilitate the repairs taking place at the site.
The incident, which took place yesterday did not result in any injuries and all 25 passengers on boad were evacuated from the train safely.
Loke said his ministry together with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad will continue to monitor the repair works and ensure that the rail service will resume smoothly. Passengers safety remains top priority, he added.
