Govt must consider setting up a National Hindu Endowments Board, says Kota Kemuning assemblyman S Preakas

Setting up a National Hindu Endowments Board will be a good step to help resolve issues related to temples, says Kota Kemuning assemblyman S.Preakas.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11: The Federal Government and the Ministry of National Unity should seriously consider the establishment of a National Hindu Endowments Board (NHEB), says Kota Kemuning assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan.

“This is not merely a religious request. It will be necessary step towards unifying the management and monitoring the administrative (aspects of temples),” he said.

The board can be tasked with handling related land disputes, while ensuring the socio-economic empowerment of the people, he said.

Preakas said this when asked to comment on measures that could be taken to handle the ongoing issue of temples built “illegally” in the country.
