HANOI, Dec 2 (Bernama-Xinhua) — Vietnam’s capital Hanoi plans to launch thousands of public electric bikes to accelerate its shift toward green transportation, according to Vietnam News Agency on Tuesday, reported Xinhua.
Since Dec 1, a total of 500 electric bikes have been deployed across 130 locations in the city, mainly within Ring Road 1 by Tri Nam Digital Transportation Services Joint Stock Company.
From this December to the first quarter of 2026, the company intends to put over 5,000 electric bikes into service within Hanoi’s urban area, according to Nguyen Dang Khoa, the company’s director.
Another company, Gleximco Joint Stock Company, plans to operate 1,000 to 2,000 electric bikes in January 2026, expand it to 5,000 in July 2026 and reach 20,000 to 30,000 by December 2028, the report said.
