KUALA LUMPUR, 20 September 2025 — Malaysia took a bold step forward in its cage-free journey today as the Malaysia Cage-Free Corporate Implementation Progress Forum & Industry Leadership Awards 2025 brought together producers, corporates, policymakers, and advocates at Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
The landmark event not only celebrated industry champions but also unveiled two major milestones — the official rebranding of Humane World for Animals, formerly known as Humane Society International, and the launch of the Malaysia Cage-Free Pullets and Hens Production Guidelines by Dato’ Sri Norazman Bin Ayob, Deputy Secretary General (Policy), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The Guidelines, the first of their kind in Malaysia, set out structured frameworks for pullet rearing and hen management in cage-free systems, aligning local producers with international welfare benchmarks. This milestone is expected to elevate Malaysia’s credibility and competitiveness in both domestic and export markets, further positioning the nation as a regional leader in humane food production.
The forum also recognised outstanding leadership across the supply chain. Producers such as TC Poultry, Huat Lai, N&N Agriculture ( Singapore) Katy Agro Farm, Fresh Farm Goodness( India) Liang Kee Farming, Uncle Rani Chicken, Bergamo, and Regenerative Farmers Malaysia were honoured under the Better Welfare & Sustainable Production categories. The second was the Strategic MoU to establish the Malaysia Centre of Excellence on Cage-Free Egg Production, signed between Humane World for Animals, MCFEPO, and TC Poultry, and witnessed by Dato’ Sri Norazman. This Centre will serve as a hub for knowledge-sharing, training, and innovation to advance best practices in cage-free production across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Saravanakumar S. Pillai, Senior Principal for Policy & Engagement at Humane World for Animals and Adviser for MCFEPO said:
