KUALA LUMPUR, July 26: Amid a strong police presence, the July 26 rally jointly organised by Opposition parties, Perikatan Nasional and PAS to call for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s resignation several saw protestors as well as onlookers gathering at Dataran Merdeka, having come from various points of the city.

As Dataran Merdeka was fully covered by the crowd, many of the protestors filled up the fringes, namely Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

While some members of NGOs were seen at the sidelines, many NGOs are said to have refrained from participating in the rally. Instability and lack of any serious resolutions to the problems outlined were among the reasons for their non-participation. Some also called on their members to express themselves through their votes during elections.

Meanwhile, no serious untoward incidents have been reported so far.
