KUALA LUMPUR, May 19: The strong synergy between the National Scouts Council and the National Scouts Commissioners Council is set to elevate the Malaysian Scouts Association (MSA) to greater heights.
Chief Scout of Malaysia, Major-General Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Zin bin Bidin, stated that the involvement of members from the MSA Commissioners Council in the National Scouts Council meeting reflects the strength of cooperation between the two councils.
“At today’s meeting, we also saw members of the Commissioners Council participating. This indicates that we are taking a different approach.
“In the past, Commissioners Council members did not attend National Scout Council meetings. Now, we are bringing them in,” he said during his welcoming address at this year’s first National Scouts Council Meeting held on Saturday.
Dr. Mohd Zin further added that MSA continues to record commendable achievements in its mission to shape high-quality youth.
He stated that at 117 years of age, MSA remains relevant and is one of the most effective youth organisations in shaping character and identity among the younger generation.
“We have played our role very well so far. Scouting is the best platform to develop the potential of youths,” he said.
According to him, no other youth organisation can match the scouting movement in terms of global reach and impact.
“Scouting has proven across the world that it can change lives for the better. Many national and community leaders started their journey in the scouting movement,” he said.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy President of the National Scouts Council, Datuk Ahmad Shazily bin Ismail Bakti; Acting Chief Commissioner of Scouts, Dr. Mohammed Mukhyuddin bin Sarwani and Parliament Speaker, Tan Sri Johari Abdul who is also a council member.
