Sunway Medical Centre, SELCARE Team Up To Deliver Cardiac Care In Selangor

The signing of a strategic collaboration between Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) and SELCARE, the operator of the Skim Rawatan Jantung Negeri Selangor 2025 programme sets a benchmark for future efforts in ensuring inclusive, sustainable healthcare access across Selangor.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) — Efforts to improve access to heart disease treatment in Selangor reached a significant milestone today with the signing of a strategic collaboration between Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) and SELCARE, the operator of the Skim Rawatan Jantung Negeri Selangor 2025 programme.

Through this partnership, SMC reaffirms its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by offering early diagnosis, screening, and treatment for heart disease across the state, particularly to eligible individuals from vulnerable communities.

SELCARE, as the healthcare arm of the Selangor State Government and part of the SELGATE Group, will continue to bridge the gap between policy and medical services, facilitating access to high-quality care for communities that face financial or logistical barriers.

In a statement, SMC Chief Executive Officer Dr Seow Vei Ken said the collaboration reflected the medical centre’s ongoing commitment to delivering world-class healthcare to all segments of society.

“We are proud of our 28 Centres of Excellence, including our renowned Heart, Lung and Vascular Centre, and our commitment to leveraging the latest medical technologies and expert healthcare professionals to serve our community.

“We have 13 cardiologists, covering both adult and paediatric care, and offer a comprehensive range of cardiology subspecialties,” he said.

Dr Seow expressed hope that the programme would have a positive impact, particularly on communities facing financial or logistical difficulties in accessing treatment.

Meanwhile, SELGATE Group CEO Datuk Noor Hisham Mohd Ghouth said the collaboration with SMC was in line with SELCARE’s mission to deliver cardiac healthcare services to those who needed it most.

“SELCARE has always been committed to making healthcare more inclusive and affordable. This initiative stands as a powerful example of how the private sector’s strengths can be harnessed to strengthen public policy for the benefit of the people,” he said.

Selcare Management, a key subsidiary of Selgate Healthcare, currently administers flagship programmes such as Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS), Selangor Saring and Skim Rawatan Jantung Negeri Selangor, benefiting over 600,000 individuals and households nationwide through a network of more than 2,000 clinics and 200 hospitals.

This partnership sets a benchmark for future efforts in ensuring inclusive, sustainable healthcare access across Selangor.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was witnessed by Selangor State Public Health and Environment Committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
